At Laneway Cyclery Sydney, our Bicycle Maintenance Courses are designed to help you take control of your bike care. Whether you’re riding Sydney’s gravel paths, commuting through the city, or hitting the trails, these hands-on workshops will give you the skills and confidence to keep your bike in top shape.

Bike Maintenance Course


How the Course Works

This hands-on course is designed for all types of bikes — Road, Gravel, Mountain, Commuter, Cargo, and E-Bikes. You’ll learn essential maintenance skills to keep your bike running smoothly and safely, no matter how or where you ride.

How the Course Works

The course is $200 for a 2.5-hour session, covering two topics of your choice. Each session is tailored to your bike type, skill level, and interests — whether you want to focus on drivetrain tuning, brake setup, or wheel care. Class sizes are kept small 4-6.

👉 Please bring your own bike to work on during the session.

Course Topics :

Wheels, Tires, and Tubeless Systems
Wheel inspection and truing
Tire and tube repair, including tubeless puncture handling
Tire pressure setup for different riding conditions

Drivetrain Maintenance
Chain wear checks and replacement
Cleaning and lubing drivetrain components
Adjusting derailleurs and fixing shifting issues.


Brake Systems

Hydraulic and mechanical brake maintenance Replacing brake pads and aligning calipers
Rotor or rim brake cleaning and adjustment

Frame Care and Control Setup


Frame and component inspection for wear or crash damage
Adjusting contact points: grips, bars, levers, and saddle
Headset, pivot, and bearing maintenance

Minimum Requirements:
Bring your own working bike (any type)
SRAM, Shimano, or equivalent drivetrain
Bikes newer than 2015 preferred (e-bikes welcome however need to be legal in NSW )

Course Features

Tools and Equipment Provided:

All tools are provided, featuring quality gear from Park Tool, Pedro’s, SKS, and more. You’ll also have the option to purchase the tools and products used during the course.

Instructor Experience:
 The instructor brings over 10 years of workshop experience, ensuring high-quality guidance and expertise throughout the course.

Consumables and Parts:
 You will need to bring or purchase consumable items like brake pads, tires, tire sealant, and chains for optimal maintenance. Special rates are available for items like tires, chains, and brake pads during the course if you would like to change them.

Bikes & Brie Women’s Night


We also host Bikes & Brie, a women’s-only maintenance night taught by experienced female mechanics. In the same format as above. It’s a relaxed, social evening where you can bring your own bike, learn bike care basics, build confidence in the workshop, and enjoy some cheese and good company while you’re at it.
